Sugarbush, Mad River Glen & the Mad River Valley
The Mad River Valley is a four-season paradise, the less trodden path. Home to two of Vermont's finest ski areas: Sugarbush, including Lincoln Peak and Mount Ellen (aka Sugarbush North) & "Ski It if You Can" Mad River Glen with its legendary single chair.
The Valley spans the dramatic Mad River from its source above breathtakingly beautiful Warren Falls, north to Moretown. From Lincoln Peak along Division Eight of the Long Trail to the Appalachian Gap, the Northfield Range to the east, this is a diamond at the edge of the Green Mountain National Forest and one of Vermont's most gorgeous valleys. If you spring for the amazing Ikon Pass you can ski all over the world as well as at Sugarbush. Without a single stop light, here's your secret escape where time almost stops.
Warren Village, at the south end of the valley features the iconic Warren Store and Relais & Chateau Pitcher Inn and is under ten minutes from Sugarbush. At the four corners stop at the East Warren Community Market for bagels or grass-fed Neill Farm beef or check out the Phantom Theater summer shows. Bikers to the Mad Bush Falls. Cocktails at Tracks, atrium trails' edge dining at Rumbles and Tevere for drinks and live music.
Waitsfield includes Irasville, the commercial center with south of the border scrumptious Mexican @ the Mad Taco, Lawson’s Finest Liquids, Localfolk Smokehouse, American Flatbread and so much more. Historic Waitsfield features the Great Eddy covered bridge, Joslin Memorial Library, Scrag & Roe, Village Grocery, Artisans Gallery, Mad River Glass, Madsonian Museum, & Waitsfield Pottery. The legendary Inn at the Round Barn for big events and weddings. Enjoy the Mad Marathon, Mad River Valley Craft Fair & Vermont Festival of the Arts.
Fayston is home to Mad River Glen, Bragg Hill for killer long range views south across the valley, the Knoll Farm, Hyde Away Inn, Mad River Barn, and Green Mountain Valley School. Route 17 across the Appalachian Gap where you can hike the Long Trail, catch amazing Lake Champlain views or head down into Bristol and Addison County.
Duxbury is the gateway to Waterbury, Stowe, Smuggler’s Notch, Bolton & Burlington.
Moretown is a charming, quiet tiny village with an epic Mad River swimming hole just south of the village. A convenient gateway to Middlesex’s Red Hen Bakery, The Filling Station, Camp Meade concerts and the state Capitol Montpelier. Moretown, so underrated, is perfectly situated between Sugarbush and Stowe and is a quick hop skip and a jump to Burlington and the airport.
