Located in Addison county, Orwell is one of Vermont’s most historic towns. Home to the site of Mount Independence, the largest fortification constructed by colonial forces, many travel to see this wonderful town. Orwell is bordered by Shoreham, Whiting, Sudbury, and Benson while the west side of the town is on the New York border, following Lake Champlain. The town’s community prides itself on retaining its rural nature in the countryside and appreciates the beauty the town offers.
